Andy Pettitte is making his first regular season start of 2008 today coming off the DL.
To make room for Pettitte on the roster the Yankees are optioning Jonathan Albaladejo to the minor leagues. Albaladejo looked sharp tossing 2.2 scoreless innings and gave up only one hit. I understand the inclination to stick with veterans who are out of options when you can send someone like Albaladejo hown with out risk, but I think it's the wrong move. The Yankees' front office is reluctant to part ways with LaTroy Hawkins and his 31.5 ERA. Yes, that's thirty one point five. Hawkins will eventually get released before the season is over and hopefully more talented guys like Albaladejo and Patterson will get another shot.
